Chartron et Trébuchet is historically located in the Golden Triangle of the Côte de Beaune: the villages of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet form an unmissable trio for any connoisseur. Adjacent to the Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet grands crus, they have become the emblems of Chartron et Trébuchet’s signature around the world.
Elegant and instantly recognisable, the label and its border have been preserved in homage to the history of Chartron et Trébuchet. Its refined style reflects high standards, a taste for refinement, timelessness and elegance. Chartron et Trébuchet exports its great Burgundy terroirs to more than 20 countries around the world.
Climate
The climate is continental: hot summers and dry autumns allow the grapes to ripen well. These climatic conditions promote the enrichment of sugars and colouring agents in the grapes.
History
Founded in 1984 in Puligny-Montrachet, on the Côte-de-Beaune, Maison Chartron et Trébuchet quickly gained a reputation for excellence. It is a story of friendship: the iconic signature was created by two friends, Jean-René Chartron, already the owner of an estate, and Louis Trébuchet, a wine merchant, who put all their strength and energy into promoting the great terroirs of Burgundy.
Vintage after vintage, Chartron et Trébuchet built a solid reputation for quality. Building on this expertise, the House then expanded its range to include red wines and the whole of Burgundy, with the aim of maintaining its image as a leading producer of Burgundy wines, thus ushering in a new era where high standards and precision remain the watchwords.
A word from the oenologist
We try to take a modern approach to our work as winemakers and breeders, while respecting the heritage represented by Chartron & Trébuchet, a great name in Burgundy. In the cellar, we work with magnificent grapes from plots we know well. We vinify and age our wines in a quest for maturity and perfect balance, patiently, because the work of vinifying great wines is always a matter of precision. Our goal is not to revolutionise Burgundy, but to extract its dreamlike qualities.
