SALCOMBE

Co-founders Howard Davies and Angus Lugsdin met teaching sailing in Salcombe over 20 years ago. Since launching Salcombe Gin ‘Start Point’ in 2016, they have built a distillery and bar serving ‘Salcombe & Tonics’ overlooking the water and launched the first Gin School in the South West of England at their premises in Island Street, Salcombe. Using only the finest hand sourced ingredients, Salcombe Gin is made using thirteen carefully selected botanicals distilled in Provident, a beautiful 450 litre copper pot still with English wheat spirit and blended with pure Dartmoor water. The end result is a gin of extraordinary quality and elegance with no compromise.

Perfect served on its own over ice or with a premium tonic water accompanied by a slice of red grapefruit to complement the rich and warm citrus notes, Salcombe Gin also makes a cracking dry Martini with a twist of red grapefruit peel. ‘Start Point’ has won numerous awards including Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Gold at the World Gin Awards, Platinum at the Beverage Tasting Institute and 3 Stars at Great Taste Awards.

‘Rosé Sainte Marie’ is an exceptional quality dry pink gin with no added sugar. Named after the iconic “Sainte Marie” lighthouse which marks the southern entrance to the old port in Marseille, from where the Salcombe fruit schooners would load citrus fruit and herbs bound for English ports in the 19th century. It has a lovely pale rose colour from infused strawberries and twelve further hand sourced botanicals, including fresh lemon and orange peels, rose petals, orange blossom and pink peppercorns which create a gin that is elegantly soft and smooth.
